This year's Mayfest has come and gone and we had a blast! We were fortunate enough to have some great art and craft vendors from all over the south join us to sell their ceramics, paintings, jewelry, wood working, stained glass, glassware, photography, soaps, birdhouses and more!
The food was sooooo yummy and featured all those great items that you can only get at this event like funnel cakes, shaved ice, smoothies, candied apples, peanut brittle, boiled peanuts, chocolate covered cheesecake, bananas and key lime pie on a stick, frozen lemonades, nachos, sausage dogs, hamburgers, hotdogs and more!
Entertainment this year was amazing! We had a yoga group demonstration to help get our energy all zen in the morning, followed by The Arslanian Belly Dancing Group, The West African Drummers, the celtic group Lisdonvarna, Matt Williams and the Cowtown String band, the Georgia Peach Cloggers and The Fever Performing Arts Group. And to top it all off Kiss 102.7 was on site all day to help give us some good tunes to hang out to.
The Children Village is personally what I love the most about Mayfest! There was a rock wall, a spider bungee jump, inflatable slides, bucket truck rides from georgia power, pony rides, a petting zoo, a put put golf course, building bird houses with Home Depot, face painting, temporary tattoos and more! As always the Children's Village is always the most fun place to be.
Of course none of this would be possible without the help of our AMAZING SPONSORS: Southwire, The Times Georgian and Gradick Communications.
Southwirehas been so gracious to us over the years in sponsoring Mayfest, marching in the Christmas Parade and also being members of our program. They support this community in so many ways and they continue to give and give even in a tough economy. I just want to say a big THANK YOU to Southwire and all there hard working employees. We appreciate everything you do and recognize that this event would not be possible without your support.
The thing that I love about the Times Georgianis there dedication to helping make small businesses succeed. They have a genuine interest in helping make our downtown the best that it can be and that can be seen in everything they do and all of the events and activities that they get involved in through our program. They are the first people willing to help out, get involved and get things done. They don't settle for "status quo" they go out and get involved and go above and beyond what we ask of them. A big thank you for the articles, pictures and ad's that you give to us that help us get the word out about our program and make it such a huge success.
and last but not least we love Gradick Communications! Kiss 102.7, B92 Country, WLBB, and WKNG thank you so much for making our program a part of your family. We have been on with Colin, Mitch and James so many times we might apply for a part time gig there! We appreciate your open door to us, the creative new ways that you work to partner with us and how you support our program and our merchants. We couldn't ask for a better group to rock out with all day!
