It's about that time of year when we turn our eyes towards the fall and start thinking about Taste of Carrollton. This is one of our favorite events of the whole year! When else do you get to eat at all of your favorite restaurants at the same time! This year's Taste of Carrollton event will be Thursday September 15, 2011. The event runs from 5:30-8pm and this year we are fortunate enough to have 39 local restaurants signed up to participate in this extrodinary event.
If you have never been to our Taste of Carrollton event before then here is how it breaks down. We invite local restaurants to come to our event and they bring the tents and the bite size portions of food for you to enjoy. We sell you tickets and you exchange them with the restaurants for a bite size serving. 10-15 tickets per person should more than fill you up. Most servings cost about 1-2 tickets. The tickets cost one dollar a piece. All proceeds go to support the Main Street Program and we put money back into the community through different grants and beautification projects. Through money raised at this event we have been able to fund past projects such as new "Historic Downtown" signs throughout Carrolton, New Directional Signs in the Downtown and the installation of commercial grade LED lights on the downtown buildings for the holiday season. So you get the opportunity to fill up on some yummy food and it all goes to benefit a good cause.
This year's event will be host to two epic wing eating contests. The City of Carrollton's Fire Department and Police Department will face off again in their fourth year of this annual tradition as the Fire department defends their title as the ultimate Champion of Chicken. The second contest will be the ultimate athletic match up as Carrollton High School and Central High School's Football team face off for the second time in a wing eating showdown. Main Street extends a special thanks to the Irish Bred Pub who will be donating the hot wings for these competitions.
